Tesla: Americans are screwed

Research in Texas shows an average 1650 motorist run out gas a month.

That’s what some Texans appear to be doing amid the latest run-up at the pump, according to AAA Texas. But they’re paying a different price.

The motor club says roadside service calls for gasoline rose 4.9 percent in the first three months of 2011, compared with the first quarter of 2010.  AAA Texas says it is currently delivering gas to about 1,650 stranded members each month.

As research shows if you run out your battery on the Tesla you are on the hook for a $40K replacement. Under Tesla’s policy this is not covered under insurance or car warranty. You are screwed and have to pay out of pocket for the battery. Read More Here

Who in their right mind would buy a car that would cost them $40K for running out of gas? I was seriously considering putting down a deposit for the S model but until this issue is resolved I will steer clear of Tesla!
